Daily Prayer -

Good Wednesday morning, my friends.

I trust and pray that you had a wonderful Christmas.  I also thank you for your prayers and wishes for our safe travel to the Maritimes and back.

There is a story that a Russian cosmonaut said, after looking out the window of his spacecraft, "I don't see any God up here".  C.S. Lewis had a fantastic answer for that:  it would be like Hamlet going into the attic of his castle and expecting to find Shakespeare!  What a great analogy.  God is like the playwright.  How could we, the characters in His play, expect to know anything about Him except what He reveals in His "script".

But what is truly amazing is that God decided to become a character in His own play. Jesus came to reveal the love and beauty of our Playwright and to become the perfect, eternal sacrifice.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance in 2012!

Almighty God,

you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word:

Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.
