What If His People Prayed?

Good Friday afternoon, my friends.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

The Casting Crowns sing about this in their song "What If His People Prayed?", the words of which I use as a prayer today.  Listen along as you pray.

With the general election now behind us, one verse from this song stands out for me: 

And what would happen if we prayed

For those raised up to lead the way?

Then maybe kids in school could pray

And unborn children see light of day

Do we pray for our leaders?  That they will receive wisdom and courage to make the right choices that affect so many?  They have great responsibility to look after the "least of these" and we need to be praying for them.  

And God will hear us from heaven.  

And we won't have ask Oprah what to do! 

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

What if the church, for Heaven's sake

Finally stepped up to the plate

Stopped asking Oprah what to do?
