Daily Prayer - Joy

Good Thursday morning, my friends.

I have said it before - I feel that one of the most prevalent sins of our day is a lack of joy.  As redeemed sinners we should be living a life of great joy, and those around us should notice this about us.  It should be a genuine, heart-felt joy born of our knowledge of God's great love and sacrifice, not a contrived, put-on joy to show everyone around us that our life is "perfect".  Because of course it isn't.  But it is a joy we should have in spite of our circumstances and it should be the "pleasing aroma of Christ" (2 Corinthians 2:15) to a lost world around us.

If the worries, pains and sufferings of this life are stifling your joy, then meditate on the promise of a life to come where Jesus wipes away every tear, where what we are experiencing now will seem like light and momentary troubles, and then pray unceasingly that God fills your heart with the joy that comes from knowing these truths.

"This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:24

Grace and peace be yours in abundance!

Jesus, you give us joy.

It is so wonderful to know you.

We praise and thank you for this day.

We thank you for all that you have done for us.

Help us to rejoice in you this day.

Help us to spread your love to all that we meet.

Be with us Lord Jesus.

Amen.
