There is no neutral position; we either live for You or we live for the world

Good Monday morning, my friends.

What a weekend!  The Promise Keepers event in Ottawa saw many men experience God in new and powerful ways.  We were all blessed to be there.

The theme of the event was "LEGACY:  We will all leave one.  The question to ask is: will it be good ... bad ... or Godly?"  On Friday evening, our speakers laid this out for the men.  We were challenged to recognize from the Biblical text the responsibility we have been given in our families, churches, workplaces and communities.  We were asked to examine whether we had taken this responsibility seriously.  If that examination showed failure, then we were exhorted to admit that failure, commit to making the changes necessary to alter the legacy we are leaving, and to make solid plans for implementing those changes.  All of this was spoken in gentle but firm tones, backed up by solid scriptural references, and you could see the impact it was having on the men in attendance.

The evidence for this came through on Saturday morning, and this really defined the weekend for me.  A man came in and placed a note in one of the "prayer and praise request" boxes we had set out.  The note was handed to Rick Verkerk, the event coordinator, who read it from the podium.  It said, simply, "My wife and I got back together this morning".  Now we have no idea who this man is, or what circumstances his marriage was facing, or even if they will succeed.  But how much more is the chance for reconciliation and healing in that relationship now than it was just a few days ago?  I ask you to pray for this marriage specifically, and generally for all the men who attended the conference.

What a gift to be in service to this wonderful God of ours.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,
Bruce

Father, You have called on us, Your children, to be reliable in giving a solid witness of our faith in You.

We are to live godly lives so that we faithfully model that which we also teach to our children and all whom we are privileged to influence.

We realize that there is no neutral position; we either live for You or we live for the world.

Fix our eyes on Jesus as we journey below so that we fulfill the calling to be faithful and influence others for the kingdom of God.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
