Prayer for our youth

Good Wednesday morning, my friends.

I want to sincerely thank those of you who have responded to the posts of the past few days.  The messages I have received privately and publicly (on the blog) tell me that this issue of modesty and purity is one that needs to be openly discussed.  (If you still wish to weigh in on this subject, please do.)  There are hurting families out there struggling to get this message across to their children.  There are those who still feel the pain of not having been able to communicate it to their children when they were younger.  On the positive side we have heard that in some places dress codes are being implemented (and enforced) and these are having a positive effect.  Let's hope and pray this "trend" continues, and let's be active in asking for and supporting such measures.

Lift up this prayer today for the children and teens in our midst.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,
Bruce

We offer to you, Loving God, the gifts and needs of youth.

Bless them with your guiding grace as they face the challenges and opportunities in their lives.

Touch their hearts with the gentleness of your love, that they may know they are valued and valuable beings.

Send your spirit of hope to their lives, that they may believe in themselves and know they are needed in this world.

Grace them with the gift of joy that they may celebrate life through laughter and tears alike.

Guide us, as we continue to grow in appreciation of the many gifts of young people,
in the ministry opportunities we offer to them,
in the journey of faith we walk with them,
in our shared mission as a community called to discipleship in the world.

We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

  1. Hey Bruce,

When you first sent this email out I replied to you directly. I told Beth and she mentioned this Blog, so even though the post is somewhat put to rest I thought I would post here what I sent in the email to you..

    Bruce,

You have nailed it on the head. I have had this discussion with my lovely wife (your sister!) a number of times. We are both on the same page with you. We try at home to keep our daughter dressed in an appropriate way (and luckily she has no issue with it) but with the pressures around her it's hard. She is very accepting of our comments when something isn't proper to wear at certain activity's and to be honest she has a pretty good sense about her when it comes to dressing properly. I hope it stays that way..LOL

Keep up the Great work brother!

    Love you Bruce!
