Daily Prayer

Good Wednesday morning, my friends.

Do you find yourself working harder and harder and not getting ahead?  Or worse yet, falling behind?  Do you have less money left over to give to your church and other charitable organizations?  Perhaps you are looking at this equation the wrong way around.  God says the more we give, the more He will give to us.   In fact He CHALLENGES us to try to out-give Him:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,"" says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

(Malachi 3:10)

But He also says that if we are not willing to give, He will withhold His blessings:

This is what the LORD Almighty says: "These people say, 'The time has not yet come to rebuild the LORD's house.'"

Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: "Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?"

Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."

(Haggai 1:2-6)

Personal experience tells me God is faithful with this promise (as He is with all His promises). Since we started putting aside the first portion of our income for God's work, regardless of what else had to be paid, He has stabalized our finances significantly.  There is not nearly as much "juggling" of funds as we had prior to making that decision.  In fact, we were able to increase our givings.

How about you?  Are you ready and willing to trust Him?

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Bruce

O merciful Creator,

whose hand is open wide to satisfy the needs of every living creature:

Make us, we beseech thee, ever thankful for thy loving providence;

and grant that we, remembering the account that we must one day give,

may be faithful stewards of thy bounty;

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
